Patricia Janečková
June 18, 1998 – Münchberg, Germany
On this day, the story of Patricia Janečková began. Born to her parents, Martin Janeček and Zuzana Janečková, she was the younger sister of Lucia.
Soon after, the family moved to Ostrava—the city that would shape her and where she would grow into one of the most beloved voices of her generation.
December 5, 2010 – The Breakthrough At just twelve years old, Patricia experienced her great breakthrough in Bratislava. During the finale of the talent show Talentmania, her crystal-clear voice moved millions of viewers across the Czech Republic and Slovakia, winning the hearts of the public forever.
A Voice that Touched the Sky Patricia was more than just a singer; she was a voice that seemed to touch the sky. She was an extraordinary musical talent whose voice touched hearts across the world. With her pure soprano, technical brilliance, and emotional depth, she brought classical music closer to a wide and diverse audience. From the moment she amazed the world as a young girl, she continued to grow in grace and talent. Her life was dedicated to music, the stage, and the city of Ostrava, which was so dear to her. Each performance was more than a concert—it was a moment of beauty, stillness, and connection.
A Bolt from the Blue In late January 2022, everything changed. At the time, she was only 23 years old. What began with the thought of an inflamed milk gland turned out to be the harsh, relentless reality of breast cancer. It was a shock that stood the world still. With admirable courage, she fought her battle and never stopped smiling.
A Legacy of Courage With great bravery, she showed the world the reality of her illness. She chose to share her journey to raise awareness, especially among young women, about the importance of self-examination. For a beautiful young woman and an internationally renowned artist to show herself so vulnerably to the world demonstrates immense strength and a profound personality.
Yet, on October 1, 2023, her light faded far too soon. What remains is her voice, her story, and the echo of her soul, which we seek to preserve together here.
Dear friends,
Please read the visitor guidelines I posted above.
Let’s make this place for Patricia Janečková a place of love and respect for each other’s feelings, opinions, and grief, which transcends national borders.
Thank you, Rinus
Vlastimil, Patricia’s husband, gave an interview to Tomáš Matušinec not so long ago. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/FUwH_yTAa6k?si=l27ixEiFxHOaEcSE
In the interview, Vlastimil talks about his life, from his childhood up to his new love. But he forgets to mention Patricia. I took offense at that and expressed my disapproval with a strong response. I just wanted to let you know. Of course, you do not have to agree with my response, and of course, you are free to say so, here as well.
Dear Patricia,
Listening to you and seeing your wonderful smile, shining with energy, is such a blessing, but still brings disbelief and sorrow. Thank you for bringing joy, honouring us with your outstanding talent. I hope you are not suffering anymore. Goodbye and thank you so much
Unfortunately, I did not know her during her active time. Perhaps it is the arrogance of Western countries that a prodigy like her was hardly known here. But quite accidentally I read in the Internet news that a Slovak soprano had died. When I followed her up, I was very touched that such a young woman, who was said to have been on her way to becoming the next superstar of opera, had died. I became curious and wanted to know more about her. Then I realized that her singing was something very special. While many, even world-class sopranos, often have very cutting and cold voices, her voice had a warmth that I had never heard before. The ease with which she mastered even the most difficult passages, even in colorature, was also striking. In combination with her beautiful and radiant appearance as well as her warm charisma and her always friendly modesty, she was a personality from another world for me. And I became more and more curious, wanted to know more of her, collecting interviews, performances and newspaper or internet articles about her. And never, never have I heard anything that made her appear in a negative light. Even in her darkest hours she remained calm, friendly and with a positive attitude, seemingly not caring much about her own fate but to encourage not only her fans but also people in similar situations like her. She told what she had to go through physically and psychologically very frankly, but one never heard her lament her fate not even in the her last weeks which must have been very painful. For me she had something almost otherworldly about her.
Never before have I been confronted with such a bright, luminous and almost perfect person. Modest as she was; I know that she would not have appreciated my judgment and would have tried to convince me that she was a normal young woman, perhaps with a special talent for singing. All of that made her very, very special to me. As special as no one before her. So what happened to me is what many of her followers said: I was more touched by her early death than by the death of many friends and relatives before. Even today, I can’t hear her sing without shedding tears, because I know that this wonderful person is no longer with us. She had the special charm of illuminating the room she entered and making the audience forget all everyday obstacles for a moment. She was an allegory for the good, the bright and pure happiness and in a special kind of manner she still is in her video performances and will be forever.
It was a great blessing to have been confronted with such a personality. All of those who had the chance to know her personally will feel that now and the other ones who still can daily follow her in the internet may be thankful for that opportunity to see her immortal. But nevertheless, the loss of such a bright person even in these dull times -she would be needed to set her light into this world- will never be overcome. It is al loss, the worst for her nearest relatives and friends but also for the rest of all who saw, heard and loved her. My thoughts as a father of a daughter of nearly same age are especially with her family. I will not imagine what this loss will mean for them. Only the belief in resurrection may be a comfort hereby.
Těžké chvíle nyní prožívá i manžel Patricie, herec ostravské Komorní scény Aréna Vlastimil Burda.
